We need to choose a server host before L4D is released. So if you have good or bad experiences with certain hosts please post them here.

Please if you find any info on :
- L4D server offer
- L4D server requirement
- Good hoster

Any help appreciated.

It just so happens, that I have a 10 slot
multigaming server left, for which I pay 20€ a month...
I could set it up as a l4d server right now...

No seriously you are my hero mate
But are you sure it has the power to run the game? Because many big hosters are whining and don't know if they will provide l4d servers cos of it's huge resource requirements. If yes it would be a very good offer. I saw an offer of an german hoster who costs 50€ after the game release for 8 slots...

I'll check that out and tell you.

Just to clear things out.
My server is hosted by 4netplayers.
I searched a lot around but not found anything which would lead
me to the assumption, this game wouldn't be hostet by them.

I think they are highly interested to host servers for that game especially when looking at the steam pre-order numbers.
One more important thing: do their servers have a multilingual control panel or only german? Santa needs access to the server too therefor we need a only english or multilingual panel.

It sadly has only a german interface....
(the ts2 interface is english ... -.-)
But I a mapper from my mod, I was making, used to use google translator
to manage our email stuff on gmx, that worked well ... he said.

I would be way too lazy to translate everything from e.g. french tbh.
But well, lets see if santa is ok with that.

Nah google has a website translation function and stuff.

The problem is that it is in german (the panel game server) ?

So i guess it's located in GER ?

Can u give the IP and let's ask Nipples to check his ping on it.

I think the pings should be fine. I get about 100 on uk-servers and I have a very very very very very very slow connection. But yeah better test it. Would you be fine with a german control panel and a translator (think of: you might even learn something )?

I have no ftp access but I can change everything that is on the server on the interface.
Well ... I had a ping of about 30-50 on the server, while playing normal css on it
but I have dial up adsl with a fucked up modem, which is very slow.
Others had pings about 10 to 30.
(ping with the ping command is unknown so far.)

If you don"t have FTP access, how do you change the config.cfg ?

Does that mean you can only launch game that appear on the control panel ?

What about script and plugin?

The interface is a kind of internal ftp access.
I have a list of every script and content on the server via that interface
and I can change it, like I want.
I can remember there is a ftp access too, tbh, I tried to put on some of my maps
a long time ago ...
But vasically I can change everything manual or per wizzard in directly on that site
of 4netplayers.

I got an idea today.
We could use damagefilters 10 man server for another game till l4d is out. Not sure which game tho since there are not many which would work with ten slots. ZM for sure not also CS:S or TF2.
The only game which is decent playable with 10 ppl is Zombie Master http://www.zombiemaster.org/ which i used to play quite a lot a few months ago. Actually i think l4d is more like Zombie Master than like any other zm mod because you have to make your way through levels, solve tasks to advance and work as a team.

Since there are some players for that mod but a little number of servers we would have quite good chances to get some ppl from there. Also i think most Zombie Master players will get L4D.

So what do you think.

Well if that zombiemaster thing is good why not ?

But we need the Foamy server to be up during the Demo release period.

Just to catch some ppl in the early stage !

I hope they will add l4d when it's time for it.
As far as I have seen, there is no support for Zombie Master right now
but I will chat with the support tomorrow and ask for it
or how I can set it up.
When l4d demo is out, I will make a new configuration (yeah I can make multiple ones and switch them when I want)
when I can...
