An update released today should fix the bug where the connection to a server would get stuck in a looping state at the beginning of the subway map and at other points.

I'm sure you would all agree how frustrating this was.

Yep sometimes their updates fuck everything.

Well we are expecting at least one update per day during the 1st week after the release of the real game.

BTW ppl ....

Only 2 compaigns would be playable in versus mode. More to come later (?) maybe.

I'm going to convert my freakhouse map to be a campaign, if valve will
make the sdk files public.
Will be lot of work but with some help, I'm going to make it.
It should be cool.

Sounds definetly yes, since the standart sounds are especially for the campaigns
(like the heli pilot, telling you to go to the mercy hospital)

Then some mapping work.
I guess I will find some one who can help me out with that.

3rd: Custom Models

4th: Custom textures.

The last two points are depending on if I can use Half-Life 2 content
in Left 4 Dead, which is questionable
since l4d isn't a mod for hl2 like css or dod.
If I can't I think I'm also going to need some ambience sounds
since there is, according to my informations, no prison campaign.

By the way, im not sure if people have already done this as ive only just found out, but it would seem we are now able to "Pre-Load" the full version of Left 4 Dead. I have it downloading right now. bounce

When you're done, you could search a gameinfo.txt
for me and try to open it (maybe it's locked because l4d isn't released yet, at least I have been told this can happen on steam)
and search for something like
AppID and the number 221
If this is in there, the content from hl2 is used for l4d ^^
(I don't think it will but hope dies last Very Happy)


Nevermind. I just found out myself.
At least the demo server files require hl2 (which is preloaded if you don't own it)
so hl2 content will be used. rather cool that is ^^

Valve would be rather stupid not to release shitloads of new maps and campaign for their new cash-cow. Also I think they will support the modding and mapping scene just like they do/did for their other games. I think it won't take long till we see the first custom campaigns.
